I have the models as .dae and maya can read them, blender wouldn't work. But when I click on show texturesnothing shows up. PLZ help!! Edit: OK I think I have this wrong, I read more of this thread and apparently the fbx models were ripped by sabertooth, I extracted the models myself, converted them to .dae and opened it in maya but I can't get the textures to show up when I click show textures, however there was this one time I got the texture files to show up but were in .psd form (photoshop's basic format) is there something I'm doing wrong

also i can't get the fbx converter to work
Edit: also when I said they showed up in psd format, i WAS WRONG, but maya seems to be able to use psd files as textures so If you save a copy of the .tga files aspsd files can you get them to work?
Edit again: Nevermind what I said before, I now have 3ds max, Where is the diffuse channel???
Edit again again: Ok I figured out how to do it except for the 180 degree flip, how do you do it???

Where it says 'angle', put 180 in the U box. Then just drag the texture from the material editor to the appropriate part...

sorry to be a noob, but how do you apply the textures in 3ds max? I've been looking on a lot of forums, and everyone figures it out before anyone else can explain how it works. I have a C. falcon model loaded, and all of the .tga files for him. Do I need to save the .tga files as something else? I thought I read somewhere about using the material editor, but I can't seem to figure it out. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I thought I read somewhere about using the material editor, but I can't seem to figure it out. Any help would be greatly appreciated. 1. Open the materials editor, which is the icon with 4 circles in the top right of the window. 2. Select the first material (the first sphere) look down a bit and there are 3 rectangles labelled Ambient, Diffuse and Specular, just to the right of Diffuse is a little box, click that. 3. A list of material types should come up, find 'bitmap' (should be the first on the list) then navigate to your first texture. 4. Now along the right hand side of the materials editor there should be 3 boxes with Angle above them and U, V and W next to them. Enter 180 into the U box. 5. Drag the sphere at the top with your texture onto the part of the model that it applies to. 6. If it isn't already, make sure the show map in viewport button is on (looks like a small checked cube below where all the materials are). 7. Repeat for other textures. N.B. This is for 3DSmax 7, it may be slightly different for other versions.

THANK YOU SO MUCH! poxag and joey90 are my heroes. I was messing around with what poxag had given me, and I was excited, but could get the angle right. The 180 in the U box is what did it. This is great! I can't thank you guys enough.

No problem, dude. thanks joey, this will make texture hacking MUCH easier now that you can know what they look like before you put them in the game you can just see how it goes as you go this is awesome

I had that problem with maya too, the direction to apply it in maya are on the 1st or 2nd pag in this thread, But i couldn't get it to work in Maya, I downloaded a free trial of 3ds max and it works fine, that might be ur best option
