Yes, I do want screenshots to be included in the zip files. It adds another 300-500kb, but enables people to keep the zip files and actually know what "FighterBlah01.pcs" or whatever actually looks like.
The artists will have to submit themselves, I don't want anyones art popping up on my site without their permission.

It is illegal. Buying the game doesn't give us the right to modify its code. (Also, I'm pretty sure it's impossible to make textures without obtaining parts of the Rev SDK.) But yeah, Nintendo doesn't care. I've never believed they do. I was just asking to make sure you knew what you were getting into. If you're confident that it'll be all right, then do what you want. I'll appreciate it, for sure. No, I think we are allowed to change textures and stuff, as long as we don't sell them for profit or burn disc with the ISO on it and give it to other people. It is illegal for games on consoles to be modified in any way. Why? Because you need to use an SDK to reverse engineer the game to do so. You as the end user are not issued or given an SDK, nor given the right to obtain one. Big companies pay big money to get ahold of an SDK from first party companies (IE: Nintendo, Microsoft, and Sony) It is part of their contract agreement to NOT distribute any of part of the SDK to anyone. For PC games, many developers and companies (IE: Valve) release SDK's publicly so ANYONE can do stuff with their games. That's kinda how they retain such a high consumer audience. Imagine how ghey HL2 based games would be if you couldn't have user made maps or custom skins and models? For the most part, Nintendo doesn't bother us too much because we don't make money from the skins, nor do we hinder them making money in any way. They don't give a shit about SSBB anyways. Otherwise you'd see updates, and be able to download more content like official levels, characters, skins and music tracks. Not to mention a few bug fixes. All they care about is you buying crap with their name or seal of approval from them every time you step into a Gamestop. Enough rant. Just know that you can't legally modify a game that has been released on a console without a license or rights given to you by the first party company (in this case nintendo) second party developer (hal laboratories), or third party developers/publishers.

If you don't use an SDK to modify it, and you don't circumvent any copy protection to do so....

You can't do any of this without stuff from the SDK.

Then someone should get on writing tools to replace the SDK ones.

Then someone should get on writing tools to replace the SDK ones. I'll get right on that. But first I have to butcher some perl. (Yes... I am working hard on my paper... I completed "3 pages", 4 more to go. This post is merely a break before I go insane)

Then someone should get on writing tools to replace the SDK ones. Making any kind of application or tool for modifying a console game is also violating copyright.

"This is illegal you know." A phrase more hackers need to be familiar with....

I don't think that matters... Nintendo doesn't care about this. We aren't making them lose money and that's all they care about.

Oh, I know Nintendo doesn't really care. But people need to stop being naive and deluding themselves about the legality of what we're doing here.
