picanoSo, we can add transparency using photoshop?? just adding transparency and save .tga file?? I don't think so. As far as I see photoshop seems to remove the transperency once you save the .tga. But I tried what picano said and it worked. I just openend my finished texture in gimp and removed the parts I want to be transparent. I managed to get rid of Ike's cloak that way. There's also been a new version of ASH released today, which contains some bug fixes. Might want to check out.

so Dragonrage, we can add transparency and using ASH to create a .pac and .pcs and everything alright? because I think i've heard the first version of ASH couldn't handle the transparency...

I added transperancy with ASH 1.1.
What ASH couldn't and still can't handle are paletted textures aka +1 and +2.
I originally thought all textures including transparency would be +2, but this seems to be wrong. For example the emblem on Ike's cloak is semi transparent. But it is still a normal texture. The thing is the Photoshop CS2 I'm using appears to be unable to display transparency on .tga's at all. Don't know for newer version. though.
As picano suggested I'm using GIMP for transparency. So you can either use it right away or add the transparency after you're finished in Photoshop. GIMP is free anyway so it isn't that big of a deal.
EDIT: Just saw an interesting post by Pharrox on the Smashboards thread.

Ok thanks DragonRAge for your answer... I'm going to try what picano said about using GIMP, then after applying transparency, GIMP can let us save as .tga and 32 bytes like PShop does?

GIMP doesn't ask me for bytes like photoshop does, but the .tga's saved by GIMP work, tested it with Ike yesterday. Also theres now even a 1.5 version of ASH, which the creator claims to be fully compatible with all characters aside from palettes. www.megaupload.com/de/?d=L3ZW5R83

omg DragonRAge you are very updated!!! congrats!! lol... thanx for the help! ok now I've downloaded that GIMP (I know how to use photoshop... but this...) anyway... here what I'm doing: 1) Open the file 2) Now according to picano I have to go to Layers -> Transparency-> Add Alpha Channel (so here is the problem, the "Add Alpha Channel" option is disabled... Am I doing something wrong? Is the Alpha Channel already enabled and I only have to erase the parts that I want to apply the transparency and then save it? Do I let enabled the "Compress" option that pop up when I'm about to save? =S (don't hate me pls! =S )

Well I haven't figured it all out myself yet.
Making one texture completly transparent is simple all you have to do is putting the alpha-whatever-its-called-in-english (the option below 'remove alpha layer') on its maximum.
I'm pretty much stuck on the part where I want to remove only segments of one texture. I can't get that 'delete the parts' to work. For some textures it worked to just paint the areas over with a solid color and than use the color transparency option. But with some textures this way messes up the rest of the image.
Guess we'll have to ask picano on how do it exactly, I'm not really used to work with GIMP.
