This is worthless on a normal person's knowledge level. If you haven't already experienced manual hacking, you can tuck your head between your knees and kiss your gluteus maximus goodbye. Until this get's written into refugio's ASH, this project is deemed worthless to noobs.

I'm not used to hexing or stuff. I made textures for items such as Snake's box, Peach's turnips, and the mushrooms. I'll use Snake's box as an example of the problem I having.
I'm using WIndows XP btw, I finished the box texture and renamed it to 059.pac since that was the name of the original pac. It it the same size as the original file and extracts correctly. When I try to insert it into 003.pac by typing C:\items\SSBBarc.exe C:\items\003.pac -i C:\items\059.pac
I get the error message:
Can't insert C:\items\059.pac in position 2293572.
Also, SSBBarc crashes. Have a solution?

At SWF, someone said that for effect .pac's to be compatible with ASH, SSBinsert v.2 was required/preferred. It was a fairly recent comment, and I was wondering if the newer SSBinsert iterations can do any better or is v.2 still the best for this particular job?

This is not entirely true, SSBBarc can extract things that ASH can't, which can then be run through ASH normally.

Please excuse my informal gesture suggesting ssbbarc was not worthy of noob level users. This is false. I had a moment of "refuse to learn something new again" moment. I am now happliy editing anything and everything again. Heh.

how do i put in .tgas with this? ash hates gimp, and id really like to actually be able to use those indexed textures despite the dumb 'errenous colors" error.

EDIT: Elrefugio should rewrite ASH with SSBBinsert instead of its old steps. I think it's useless to modify ASH to support SSBArc. It won't do anything better (well, maybe it will be some milliseconds faster!). But CUPASH definitively can get better. No more lowered palette CSP! I can't work on it now, however.
