Super Smash Bros. has texture hacks. Super Smash Bros. Brawl has texture hacks.
The ONLY one in the family of the series so far not to have any thorough texture hacks in it... is Super Smash Bros. Melee.
I've heard the process is pretty complex, but what I'm more interested in is finding the MATERIALS needed to properly rip SSBM textures. I've seen it done a number of times at various forums; I'm wanting to know how would one go about doing it.
Any help gathering/naming the necessary materials to take textures OUT of Melee would be GREATLY appreciated. (:

I donno. But, another thing I'd like to find out is, are the re-releases of gc games (pikmin and mario tennis or whatever) on the wii openable on wii scrubber? If so, if melee was re-released, we'd see some textures most likely. Those darn hackers. Though I have never hacked the gc games or used codes or action replay or anything on it before.

Why would they re release melee? Number one they have brawl, and number two, they re release games with "new control" which is just use of wiimote and since wiimote is total SAKURAI!!!!ing garbage for ssb series there's no point.

I heard there wasn't much change in pikmin for gameplay. And one word: money. they'd make it. Ah, to dream. And wouldn't you wanna texture hack melee? Plus us classic controler users want it!

Well they wouldn't make much money, only hardcore SSB fans would buy it. Melee on wii = waste of time AND if you want to texture hack it and play on wii, gamecube backup launcher (and as for classic controller, i think there is hook function, I'm not sure though).

^ As much as I hate to say it, I have to agree to that. Brawl has (unfortunately) passed Melee in terms of popularity, so I highly doubt Nintendo would even consider a Melee rerelease... especially since Sakurai himself noted just how impossible it was to make Brawl work with the Wiimote. (Super Smash Bros. is a different story, as it deals with the 1st game in the series and hasn't been seen around for a longer period of time compared to Melee.)
It's certainly not a bad idea to release Melee via that New Control method... just highly unlikely. Perhaps on a future Nintendo console, though.

Reg, you should hear my brother talk about Brawl's popularity. He keeps complaining that nobody wants to play competitively anymore. I'm guessing it's a cascade effect started by a few Melee pros giving up on Brawl. I also hypothesize that if the no tripping code was on in more tournaments, half of those people would come back. At least Melee had the debug menu... fun times. ;D But I've had the Melee iso for years, and have been through it many times. There's only a folder for audio, and all the other files are scattered at the root of the disc. It could take a while to go through all that. I also remember seeing work on a model viewer over at EmuTalk. It's pretty much dead, but you can still check it out: www.emutalk.net/showthread.php?t=33383

^ Debug Menu was the most awesome thing in Melee. That alone kept the game alive for me for many extra years. As for the main menu... it's not all TOO bad. It's organized enough that you can see where the characters are (they're about midway through the ISO), and the trophies are near the bottom (easy to point out as you'll see random names like Dixie and Paula popping up). Compared to other games, though... eesh. And I recall seeing that model viewer; it's because of that topic (and forum) that I brought up this discussion, in hopes that someone were to extract the textures. Kind of like this: www.emutalk.net/showthread.php?t=38211&highlight=meleeUPDATE: Awright, after going through some trial and error, I've managed to pull out the textures from Melee... but not in the manner I hoped. (Got them via Dolphin dumping. lol.) So now that I've got the textures... how would one be able to put them back in...?

are they in a file type openable in photoshop, or does one have to put them back in to a different data file? (like gettin texes from brawl, getting the .tgas from dem, and puttin dem back into dat kinda file)
UPDATE: Pictures plz (if avaible)? Specifically for Brawl characters, it'd be so cool to put .tgas from melee onto .tgas in brawl (though I doubt they're the same..)

So now that I've got the textures... how would one be able to put them back in...? You used DOLPHIN?! You must have and endless well of patience. Did you manage to get more than 1 frame per second? Also, what program did you use to extract the textures from the memory dump?
