It's also illegal to make and distribute custom textures. Yikes, I never did think about that. If that were true though, then texture editing would've been banned.Oh... but it is true. Why do you think there was so much worry about Syntax Error? Ok battle portrait are not showing on the screen, I have marth2_big and it shows on the game, the mini portrait which is "InfFace162" does not show when fighting, do I need to do something extra? This is what I did: Step 1: put Inface162 in the new files folder Step 2: Select Step 2 - Create Step 3: Once the cmd windows finished and it closes I move info, menu and system to the PF folder on my sd card. Step 4: rename common5_en to common5 and launch the game and launch Gecko. Step 5: Not profit It sounds like you have it all set... are there any files output in the info/portite folder? If so... you can test extract those alone (click / drag over ssbextract, run tplx on the tpl files...) and check if those are really edited. If they are... uhh... issue with your codes? Dunno.

on the newfiles folder on cupash in "info/portrite" there are no portrait files at all.
not sure if this will help but on the templates folder there are only _BIG files not small files(Is it supposed to be this way?).

Creating a new portrait for fierce deity, I get "erroneous colors" error, how do I get pass this? Reduce the number of colors from 72 to, say, 60. If it still fails, reduce again. If you're using GIMP, make sure you have picano's fixed version. Nintendo doesn't care enough to go after texture hackers. If they decided to do that, though, they'd have every right to do so.

Got it, before I had 72 colors but did not use Picanos version so it gave me the same error, with Picano it doesn't with the same files that gave me errors before. Anyways here is the portrait I have been working on(is for fierce deity) www.filefactory.com/file/af8137e/n/Fierce_Deity_Link_rar

when i run step two everything goes fine and it doesnt say error, and then there are no InfFace.brres files in the portraits folder DX.
also in the samples there are a few already changed: bowser1-big dedede1-big falco1-big falco2-big fox1-big kirby1-big kirby2-big mario1-big marth1-big ike1-big zelda1-big yoshi1-big lucas1-big all of those have a CSP i dont want, and i was wondering if anyone had all the originals.

First off... you realize InfFace.bbres is only for in battle portraits, right? If so... you need the originals of the brres in the neededfiles folder / the appropriate char_small.tgas in order to add those. As for the wrong images... re-extract using... www.filefactory.com/file/af30h3e/n/common5_en_pac(Be sure to back up the stuff in "newfiles" before this!)

okay, that makes sense about the InfFace.brres XD.
but I downladed the common5_en.pac and the same ones I said above are cahnged in that one too. bowser1_big is like black and blue lucas1_big is travis touchdown and so on. Kind of annoying but not really a big deal I suppose.
