Why is it that texture hacks dont work with orcarina
But with gecko's app they do?

Quick Answer: Orcarina is old as hell.
There have been major updates to the code handler since Orcarina was discontinued. Many of them... for compatability sake. (If ya check, there is a code for Super Mario Galaxy that is different depending on if you use Orcarina or USB Gecko --- something about where in memory the codes / code handler were stored)
