Samus has got some weird texture files ... they are just black lines on white background, with the shape of other texture elements. Now, the question is : what are these ? Are they some sort of underline more clearly separating the various parts of the costume ? And if so, can I change them ? Can I recolor them ? Well, what can I do and cannot do with these ?Then, there's also this weird 9Spe Texture, which is just an orange spot on a black background ... FS eyes, maybe ? Could someone who has already worked on Samus textures enlighten me a little ?

I believe those might be specularity maps. (Captain falcon has a grayscale file with a similar name --- it's used to define the shine of his outfit)
I'm guessing the reason why hers is white with black lines is... to help make the segmented parts appear darker, to simulate light not reaching / reflecting off that surface. White parts will shine when lit while black parts won't.
