So as the title says, I need help... I've replaced the corresponding pcs files with the ones I downloaded, but when I try to use them in brawl, it freezes before the stage loads. I don't know if I'm doing anything wrong... but it's happening with all of them. I can't load up any. Yes, I'm using WiiScrubber 1.21, burned with IMGburn at 4x, DVD5 version. Any help would be appreciated thanks another thing, it is not necessary to replace all pac files except ones for Samus and Bowser, right?

Its a few more than just Bowser and Samus. -Bowser -Wario -Zelda / Sheik -Samus / Zero Suit Samus -Pokemon Trainer
It may simply be a bad burn because I've had some custom textures freeze after stage selection.
What media do you use for the burn? It may also have something to do with it.

Not replacing the correct pac/pcs files shouldn't make the game crash, and especially not at the character select screen.
That indicates a more serious problem with the Textures, the Replacement or the Burning.

I'm using verbatim DVD-Rs, so I don't think it has anything to do with the burning. Actually, It doesn't freeze at the character selection screen, I t freezes right after I select a stage when it says ready to fight. I really don't know what's causing it.
EDIT: Another thing, when you insert a pcs, does it have to be the same name of the file you're replacing, or will WiiScruber rename it for you?

The name of the file shouldn't be a problem, as the file name remains the same on the iso itself. (For example, if you replace FitCaptain01.pcs with Venom.pcs, it will remain as FitCaptain01.pcs).

First off I see some people say use Wiiscrubber 1.21 instead of 1.31 and I don't think the version of Wiiscrubber is the problem because I tried using both to replace the exact same texture in the same Fit# and it still freezes. For example I tried replacing FitMarth03 with kadaj using both wii scrubber 1.21 and 1.31 and they still both freeze on me when I pick blue Marth (which is FitMarth03). But when I replace FitMarth00 with kadaj I can see the texture hack works now without freezing.
What I think is maybe you need to replace the texture hack with the FitChar# that the creator use to edit just to ensure your game doesn't freeze. If that is the case then there needs to be a huge update on the texture gallery. Like for example none the texture I've downloaded that are name Fit(w/eChar)(w/e#) has freezed the game on me.
I hope more people would post about this or have someone figures this out soon because I already wasted so many blank dvds already trying to get these texture hacks to work.

Mmm... I doubt the # does much (aside from obvious characters like Pikachu or Jigglypuff) as I can replace anything with anything else without any trouble. --- For the most part... different # characters are identical structure wise (although, you do have small differences like character00 or character03 in the hex of the file... but that should all be relative and not matter). But if you feel that is the case... try this 1) Unpack custom character with ASH (might need to extract a PAC from the PCS via lz77 first) 2) Unpack specific char # with ASH (different folder, so you don't overwrite the other stuff) 3) Copy textures from custom to new character 4) Run step2_create in ASH That would in effect make a character of one # into another. Although... indexed (+1/+2) textures would require a little further modification (making the transparency into magenta) before that works. And just reiterating... freezes are usually the result of a bad pac/pcs, bad media, or bad replacement (non WS 1.21). I'd test it out further... but I nolonger deal with DVDs so... I can't

It has nothing to do with the number of the file, except on Jigglypuff. (You can replace Pikachu's textures just fine.)
