Do i need it to read the texture hacks on the SD card? If not, i think i should just remove it off my desktop.

Some texture hacks are packed in WinRAR. They're not to read texture hacks off an SD card. Don't get rid of it, you need it.

I have a 40 day trial version. Is there one where i can get one that lasts forever? Or do i need to pay the license for it?

The thing about WinRAR is that, unless they fixed it, you are never forced to buy the license. You can just hit Close every time that box appears, and it will work fine.

<Advertisement> Also in place of winrar, winzip, power archiver or any of that crap... I suggest the free and open source 7zip! www.7-zip.org/</Advertisement>

I know a program that you can download that isn't a trial version; you can use it without any day limit. It's called, IZArc, and it can read WinRAR files and even ZIP files. You can find the download in the web site link below.
