Just having a spot of trouble on this. I've heard many different stories, They work, They don't work, You can use them in Maya, You can only preview them in 3DS, etc. etc. So... my question is... what program do I use to preview textures? Maya? That 3DS program? And just what steps would I need to take to preview them? (File formats needed, in other words.) Any tips would be GREATLY appreciated.

Did you read the other thread? Anyway... Things you will need: 3DS max Colladamax plugin (may be found with the williams converter...) Williams MDL0 converter (http://www.megaupload.com/?d=HV4PBE9K) Plus obviously wiiscrubber, SSBextract and an SSBB iso First extract the relevant trophies .brres (Data/Toy/...) Then use SSBextract on the brres to extract the models (and textures) then use the williams converter to convert the MDL0 models to .dae format. Then install 3DSmax and the colladamax plugin. Then open 3DSmax, file->import find your file (you may need to change the file format dropdown to collada (.dae)) To apply the textures to your new model, open the material editor (top right, 4 circles icon) click the small box next to diffuse on the first material, and click bitmap. Find your first texture. Then in the angle, U box enter 180. Then drag the material onto the relevant part(s). Repeat for the other textures.

Ah, thanks for that, joey90.
Just one (maybe two) problems I seem to run into... Whenever I try to install the Colladamax plugin, it keeps saying that 3DSmax couldn't be found (even after I installed it) and that I would need to put the plugin manually. Also, what do you mean exactly by "drag the material onto the relevant part(s)"? What material? What parts? >_<

In 3ds Max you literally drag and drop materials onto whatever you want to color. The material window will feature a bunch of colored spheres. You click on a sphere, drag it over to the model, and it should light up / change color to match the material used.
Only used it a few times but the I believe the shortcut key to the material editor was simply "M". (Blender for life! I just can't adjust to Maya or Max...)

No progress. I reach the colored spheres, but it won't allow me to color in the actual model. I can drag and I can drop... but for whatever reason it won't allow me to color in the model.
I'm thinking it may be due to the Colladamax plugin not installing in the correct directory, but I really have no idea.

INstead of dragging and droppping just select the part of the model you want to apply the textureto and choose the right material/texture and click apply . unless ur problem is with the collada part which means this won't fix anything

When you apply the texture, unless you enable 'view material in viewport', which looks like a blue checked cube it will just look grey.
If it comes up with an error message, are you sure you put the texture in the right box?
If it was an error with colladamax, then you wouldn't be able to import the .dae file in the first place.

That was it, joey90, just missed that "Show Standard Map in Viewport" icon, thanks a lot! Last bit, hopefully... This isn't necessarily a problem, but just something I noticed. Is it just me, or are the models reversed? As in, I just experimented with Darkrai's trophy. In Brawl, when you view Darkrai, his eye is showing on the right and covered on the left. However, when I preview him here, his eye is on the left and covered on the right. I just find that rather peculiar. In any case, really appreciate all the help, all!

When you put 180 in the U box you are flipping the texture to match the flipped model. Really you should flip the model... though I don't bother

Wait, how do you edit the textures of trophies? Don't they, you know, have a fixed texture pallette?
