You need to fill the background with magenta (#ff00ff) and then index the portrait. No. Index, then add magenta. Doing it the way described above will create a pink outline around the picture unless you go into the palette and manually change every minute shade of magenta that isn't pure ff00ff. To do this, index with one less color than required. View the palette, and add ff00ff as the last color, then fill the areas you wish to be transparent with magenta.

How do i find the Index and megneta for the back round? I think it would be easier if i had photoshop
