A lot of people speculate it could be Kirby in some alternate timeline, which IS quite plausible (and being dubbed the strongest warrior in existence would certainly match him)... but I'll go with New Character. Galacta Knight was probably heavily based off of Kirby, but I don't think it was Sakurai's intention to make it THE Kirby, no matter the timeline. It's pretty obvious there is a race of Kirby-like aliens, so any one of them could've grown up to be Galacta.
But, who knows. Hopefully someday we'll see Galacta again and get a little more background information (and maybe some official artwork).

Gonna say new character by process of elimination. Future Kirby prolly wouldn't wield a sword if he had the power to copy anything, and if it was future Meta Knight, that battle would've been really fudged up when he won. :x Although it's certainly interesting to think that it'd be possible for Meta Knight to end on a death spree like that when he got too powerful. I'd guess/hope that the battle with Galacta made him realize that, so he'll try not to get power-hungry or something. Instead, it became apparent that he'd get much more pleasure out of relaxing in a cute flower field.  |

Future Kirby prolly wouldn't wield a sword if he had the power to copy anything, and if it was future Meta Knight, that battle would've been really fudged up when he won. :x I heard somewhere that once Kirby's race "come of age," they either lose their suction ability or disregard it as they can use swords... which makes sense, as Kirby can suck up enemy powers, being "defenseless" as he is, whereas once he takes up the blade (or other weapon of choice such as ax, dagger, etc.) he'll have no need to steal a foe's ability. |

Galacta knight is an alternate dimension Chuck Norris whose mind became warped similarly to Giygas. His lance is Mr. T

okay, so only one person voted. whatever. i just wanted to know what other people think. here is my opinion.
metaknight is galactic knight, only galactic is from the future. meta asked to fight the greatest warrior, so nova gave him galactic. if galactic was the best, meta would have lost. since meta won, that means that he was already the best, so nova gave him his future form to fight. galactics description even says that he crosses time to fight

I tried to vote at one point (I think I was going for "New Character" as well), but it didn't allow me to press Vote. No idea why. T_O
Still. I can believe Galacta Knight being some weird time-aged Kirby or Meta Knight, or some kind of Kirby/MK doppelganger from a parallel universe. Who knows.
...Well, maybe other than Sakurai.
