Funny thing I found. I also think the following applies to you, Link123175,
So I edited the Mushroom (Big) from the 031.PAC. 031 is definitely the Mushroom, as it opens up proper TGA files for it in Photoshop. BUT, when inserted back to the Common3.PAC file using this non-hexing method, the custom texture for 031.PAC is actually applied to the PARTY BALL, which is 028.PAC (might want to check the PARTY BALL, link123, lol)
This has happened to me several time with other items, hence my buggy Items Pac that was released a while ago. When I edited the Pitfall, the texture applied itself to the Mushroom. So here's the deal, which I haven't tested but am doing right now:
***IF YOU WANT TO EDIT THE MUSHROOM (Big), EDIT 031.PAC as usual. But when you drag 031.PAC to the <Item folder>, rename it to 034.PAC (its the Pitfall in the list, but when I apply a texture to 034, it changes the Mushroom (BIG), not the pitfall)***
Will edit with results. Don't know why by the time a certain texture is inserted through CMD, the addresses suddenly change. Apply the CMD steps normally, inserting the edited 034.PAC
Test texture on Mushroom (BIG)***
I fear a new list for<insert items> through this method will have to be done. This means some items change address for some reason when being inserted through CMD. So far, hear is what I have if the <CMD Insert List> will exist:
- 046 (smashball) = 049 - 031 (Mushroom Big) = 034 - 032 (metal box) = 035
EDIT: Success! Indeed, some items change in multiples of 3 for a reason that Spunit mentioned before. Something about SSBBinsert accounting for empty space or something. I am making a list as I edit items, but I won't be updating this here post.
