Vile, I need help. For some reason whenever I extract the common3_en.pac and then put it through lz77ex.exe, I can't use the resulting common3.pac in SSBExtract. It just won't work. I get a folder outputted but nothings in it. Could you provide a download for it because I think mines messed up.

Hm, the same happens to me. Well, I personally rename the uncompressed common3_en.pac to something I don't mind typing repeatedly, such as 1.pac, and then run it through ASH like normal, except I close it before it gets an error and deletes everything.
Note: the last file will probably be corrupt, as you may have stopped ASH halfway through the extraction process. If that happens, you may want to copy its information from the hex editor.
My findings: number 6 is bob-omb and the two that look exactly the same are the mushrooms (don't ask me which one's which I only know through the ASCII of HEN)

Isn't there an easier way? I don't understand any of this hexing stuff. I changed the Metal Box to be blue, but I'm a bit confused as what to do next, and I don't want to install the 2 hexing programs. EDIT: Actually... where are the mushrooms? Well you can JUST use HEN (Hex Editor Neo) but I suggest having Hex Workshop and HEN, because Hex Workshop is much friendlier, faster. It's only at one part you will need HEN. EDIT: No there isn't an easier way. Yes. There is an easier way. You can skip the latest hex editor steps with just a call to ntcompress: ntcompress -l -o compressed_file.bin -A4 uncompressed_file.pac With this command you won't need to edit a TXT file, to call perl to remove the "0x"s, to remove the first 4 bytes and to overwrite them on the fifth position. You are using the old Pharrox's method. I discovered this method while doing some tests with CUPASH and it will give you an exact copy of the file you could get following the old method.
