I have three quick questions and was wondering if anyone could help answer them. I have searched around and haven't been able to find anything about them. My first question is if I should use DVD-R disc or DVD+R discs for when I make a copy of my game. I have been using +R but later heard that they can eventually damage your wii. Anybody know if this is true? If that is true, how can I make the size of my brawl file smaller in a hex editor? I have been using ash, so I haven't really used a hex editor and was wondering what part I need to delete if I only want to remove one player modes/SSE. My last question is on how to edit pokeball pokemon using ash. I haven't found any bit of information on this so any help would be greatly appreciated. I have been able to extract the files but have no idea what I need to replace once they have been edited. Thank you very much!

-R is generally advised but if +R works, no problem with keeping at it. (Not sure of what to say about the rumor... I've heard it does / doesn't...) If you run Brawl through wiiscrubber 1.0 it will cut it down to single disk size, SSE gone. With imageburn you might be able to burn using the full ISO and just hit "finish disk" when it errors at the end (this doesn't work on all drives, mine refuses to burn at all).
With ASH 2.0 you should be able to edit Pokemon Trainer's pokemon with no issue. www.megaupload.com/de/?d=K6CRH72P Once you get the _new.pac and _new.pcs, replace both of them with the appropriate pokemon.
Partion 2 Data > Fighter > Fushigisou (Ivysaur?) Partion 2 Data > Fighter > Lizardon (Charizard) Partion 2 Data > Fighter > Zenigame (Squirtle?)
Replace whichever FitCharacter## you want, just make sure you are consistent, 00 for all, 02 for all, etc. (That is... if you want to swap between all three customs)
You'll need to replace BOTH the pcs and pac (unlike others where pcs alone will work) in order to properly transform back and form.

I will make sure to try using Wiiscrubber. I was also meaning the pokeball pokemon, like lugia or gulpin, do you have any ideas on how to edit those? The files have two .pac and I know that the one called "Pkm###" rather than "Itm###" will give you the editable textures when you run it through ash. My only problem is that once I edited them and only replaced the "Pkm###" it crashes when I load an edited pokeball. Should I be replacing both the "Pkm###" and "Itm###"? Or should I be doing something different? Thank you very much!

Ah... I don't know. I'll let SuperCoins handle that one. He did do Dark Lugia afterall. I'll be waiting on a response as well, been wanting to make an evil Nintendog but it's basically the same setup as you mentioned.

You say you found the textures, which is a good start, to put them back in you will probably need some hexing skill.
Basically just do everything in reverse... (easier said than done)
Every time you extracted something you need to hex it back in, and every time you decompressed something you need to compress it.

I know that there must be some way but I just don't know what to do with the new .pac. I already tried replacing only the old .pac and that wouldn't work. Any ideas? I also just put my .iso through wiiscrubber and that worked to make my .iso size smaller, so thank you, picano.

I don't think ASH will work with anything other than characters, though I could be wrong...

I've edited pokemon and assist trophies already with ash, got shiny mew, shiny groudon, shiny celebi, shadow lugia with the red eyes instead of the white which stacksmash forgot, and a colered tingle lol. ASH works with other things

Does anybody know if it's possible to edit these in the newest ASH? I've tried replacing both of the .PACS and that didn't work either. If anybody knows how please let me know. EDIT: Also, does anybody know where the texture files for things like the pokeball or homerun bat are? I'm not able to find them under the "Item" section and haven't been successful in finding them anywhere else. Thanks!

Download the Syntax Error guide, and at the bottom there is a list of where the item textures are (They are in various common files)
