How do you guys manage to edit the picture specs (like 32 bits/pixel, color indexes, etc) in GIMP? Whenever I try to use ASH/STASH step2, I get lots of errors like there is no color palette or something like that...

32bit is default in GIMP.
As for indexing (only +1/+2)... Image > Mode > Indexed
but... you must be using one of my modified version's of ASH. (And even then, it has issues with small pallet images)
