YES it's illegal and if you want "donations" for your textures GO AWAY. None of us do this for money, we do it because we love to. And if someone starts introducing money into the equation Nintendo will have to start doing EVEN MORE about all this. STOP making things more difficult for the rest of us! STOP trying to put up PayPal or GTFO! WHY are there not more posters saying something against this? There was only a few! Until this is resolved there shouldn't be some kind of conversation regarding this team! Seriously, I'm a positive guy AND I welcome all new texture hackers for Brawl, but that is just WRONG. I recall Stack Smash doing a similar stunt with Paypal (though it was taken down almost immediately because we found out what was going down =_= ), and no one really cared... because they were wanting donations for stuff OTHER than their textures, like helping with the site. Paypal accounts are natural. If they're to help run the site, then hey, I say go for it. Having a Paypal account on your site is no different than other high-ranking fan-made video game sites that also request donations. So long as you're not making people pay for your texture hacks, you all should be in the clear.  |

i don't see why nintendo should be able to sue us. WE bought a wii. WE bought brawl. WE ARE FREAKING MAKING IT BETTER THAN BRAWL!!! once we buy something, it is ours to do as we please with it. You're wrong, fyi. Buying the game does not confer a license to alter its code. However, Nintendo doesn't care. As long as we're not hurting their sales, they'll continue to not care. With that said... Gamez, your holier-than-thou attitude is disgusting, even more so because you're so obviously wrong. These people aren't selling their textures. If you took two seconds to think about what "donation" means, you'd realize that. Never did they say, "If you don't send us money, you can't have our stuff." They asked for donations to keep their site running so that they can continue to show their stuff. Think before you rant. Helps you not look like an idiot. |

How dare you take the time to to label me! It's one thing to reply or add your opinion but I won't sit around without saying something when someone ASSUMES how I think. I happen to be behind this community 110%. But I take it very seriously when people start trying to make money off of fan work. It's not like this person already has a large repor of art already listed that can be appreciated from afar and donated to. If everyone started earning money from having PayPal at their Brawl hack sites, we would ALL have more shite to deal with from Nintendo!!
That said, I hope I have cleared up my views enough for someone else to think THEY can label me. As to you Vyse, I don't know you personally and hope that I don't end up writing anything at this community page that ends up bothering you as much as what you typed did me. I have an equal right to express my love for what we do in my own way. I don't want someone else thinking I'm some ill informed/negative/right winged nut. Especially someone who doesn't know me. So no hard feelings but don't assume anything about me or what I mean by something. I am personally working on making a fan made FULLY 3D Smash Bros fan movie. This is the first time I have taken the liberty to say so over the open net because I wanted to wait until it was more finished. But I think in this light people can see that as much as I work hard to do it, I NEVER asked or will ask for donations.
Further more, Vyse if you have another comment for me I hope it is one simply less negative. I obviously didn't appreciate the fashion inwhich you gave your last. So please understand I'm not meaning to be rude to you, just know I took what you said very personal. As much as I wish you the most positive of experiences to you when coming to these forums, I hope everyone else is wishing me the same.

I said what I did out of RESPECT for the people here and for the love of what I do. You have no right to say who I am or meant otherwise. And by the way, NONE of what I said even seems "holier-than-thou" in retrospect. I have a great deal of respect for everyone here and I don't happen to put myself above ANYONE. If I did, I wouldn't have spent as much room and time typing about how I want the same reasonable and respectable experience at these forums as I wish to you. No more of this "holier-than-thou attitude is disgusting" conviction crap, please.
By the way, you can't call me "wrong" if you say I was wrong BECAUSE "these people aren't selling their textures." Because I didn't say that. Nor did I mean it, or imply it. I meant that I felt it as wrong to do what I SAID they were doing. Seriously though Vyse, this is only going to end up being a very bad start for me at these forums, as I have only been here for around a month or 2. Please don't be the first to make this place less enjoyable for me. I absolutely am not going to try to do the same to you. In fact: I will leave this page up so I can look forward to your response. I hope we can come to some kind of understanding so this doesn't persist.
