Before the SD Loader, burning DVDs was the only way to use any of this stuff. You newbs are just spoiled. *shrug* I have a bunch of blank DVDs lying around; I might as well use them for this. I have DVD's and I did it once. I just don't see why I should waste a 5G DVD on music when I could just mute the Music and play the songs from my iPod speakers.

You lose the sound effects. Plus, like I said in another topic, it's another way of making this your personal version of Brawl, especially if you edit the files to actually change the names of the songs in-game.

No you don't you go to the Music and just go full blast Soun effects and which cancels the music.

*shrug* Suit yourself. I don't care about you or how you customize your game.

What about the fact that it takes much more Wii hackery to load backups than to just run Gecko OS?

Not really. You use Homebrew to install a wad manager, use that to install the wad that lets you run backups, and you're done. You might have to do a custom IOS, too... Really, though, the whole process boils down to pressing 1 or A (depending on the program) to advance to the next screen over and over.

You need to install a cIOS because the wii cannot read all the data of the DVD. I just put softmii personally.

It's not that I don't know how, it's that I don't want to go that far. With the HBC, you can uninstall it safely, but cIOS... things get tricky. Basically, once my Wii's THAT hacked, I can't go back.
Besides, I don't have any daul-layered DVDs or SD cards/USB drives over 4GB >_>. And seeing how frugal I am, I'm not willing to pay extra money for something like this.
So really it's just me and my beliefs.

Besides, I don't have any daul-layered DVDs or [...] You don't need a dual-layered DVD. Simple DVD -R/+R are enough. And it's not that hard to dump an SSBB disk. You do not need any large USB HD/SD. Wha ?! I didn't see that. How can we do it ?
